Adult Basic Education/GED Enrollment

The Adult Education program is designed to help adults meet their educational goals while improving their academic skills.  There are three components:  Pre-GED, GED, and College Preparation.  Each component is customized to meet students needs and increase employment skills in preparation for a future career.  Pre-GED classes enable adults to improve their skills in reading, math, english, science, and social studies.  Employability skills, including beginning computer skills, are also a part of the basic skills curriculum.  These classes are open to all adults who wish to brush up on basic skills whether or not they have a high school diploma.  GED classes prepare adults for all subjects on the GED test:  math, reading, social studies, and science.  These classes also strengthen writing skills and help students prepare to transition to college or careers after earning their GED.  College Preparation classes help strengthen math, reading, and writing skills in order to prepare for the AccuPlacer exam.  Students also learn test-taking and study skills for success in post-secondary education.  Space is limited.  Registration closes on January 7th or when the class is full.  These 4 days are orientation only.  Once the student completes the orientation process, classes start the following week.  There is a $60 fee due January 12th.  If the fee is a roadblock to attending class, please talk with the Adult Education staff about options.
